This summer (2024), students can choose from two classes, for which the book is provided:
#1. "The Jesus I Wish I Knew In High School" (B03/B05) - Youth Counselors Being a teenager comes with a unique set of challenges. Dig into The Jesus I Wish I Knew in High School(Cameron Cole, Charlotte Getz) and learn from a myriad of writers who draw from personal experience on bullying, eating disorders, pregnancy, addiction, racism, family conflict, expectations, and the immense pressure to achieve.
"See how their encounters with Jesus brought healing, rest, and purpose to their lives and hear what they wish they knew earlier: when you know Jesus, you know what it’s like to be perfectly loved and accepted, have hope for the future, and experience grace and mercy when you mess up" (New Growth Press).
#2. "Theology & Practice of Musical Worship" (Chapel) - English Worship Team Leaders How does a theological understanding of worship inform and refine one’s private and corporate worship? What does worship encompass? This class will explore several of those biblical foundations, based on the book True Worshipers (Bob Kauflin).
It will also include contextualized discussions and a practical element, where some current and potential praise team members can craft and lead a mini worship set. All are welcome to join, but this will be especially useful for those already serving in or are interested in the worship and/or media ministries.
